Architecture and Atmosphere Seminar 2 June 2014

Tapio Wirkkala Rut Bryk Foundation organises a seminar on architecture and atmosphere to be held at the Finnish Film Foundation, auditorium Kino K-13 in Katajanokka, Helsinki, on Monday 2 June, 2014 at 15:00–18:30. How is the atmosphere of a space created? How do architecture and design contribute to the atmosphere? The concluding panel discussion will be led by Professor Juhani Pallasmaa.

The invited speakers include some of the leading theorists in the field: Professor Jean-Paul Thibaud, Cresson, the Centre for Research on Sonic Space and the Urban Environment; Professor Tonino Griffero, the University of Rome Tor Vergata; and Professor Gernot Böhme, the Institute for Practical Philosophy in Darmstadt.

The event is the second in a series of special seminars to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tapio Wirkkala and his wife Rut Bryk (with the actual celebrations to be held in 2015/2016), and it will be organised by the Tapio Wirkkala Rut Bryk Foundation and the Alvar Aalto Academy. The first fifty attendees to arrive will receive a copy of a book on the 2013 Architecture and Neuroscience seminar.
